Aristeem  FAQ

Aristeem Play

What is Aristeem Play and how does it work?

Aristeem Play lets you play PC games in your browser. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is installed on your own device.

How it works in practice:

1. Open the Game Library on the site.

2. Pick the game you want to play.

3. Press Install & Play — a session starts on our servers.

4. Sign in to the store the game belongs to — Steam, Epic or another.

5. Play.

The game runs on our hardware. Your device just receives the video and sound and sends your keyboard, mouse or gamepad input back — which is why it works on a machine that couldn't run the game on its own. Stream quality is up to 4K on every plan.

Aristeem Play is built for games only. If you need a full Windows PC for professional software, that's a separate product — Aristeem Work. You can switch between them with the Work / Play switcher in the header.

Do I need to buy the games, or are they included?

Both free and paid games are in the catalogue. With an active subscription you can launch any free game in the list straight away.

If a game is marked as requiring purchase, you buy it yourself on Steam, Epic, Xbox or the relevant store first. We don't sell games and we don't provide free access to paid ones — the subscription pays for the hardware and the streaming, not for the game.

I already own a game on Steam. Can I launch it?

Only if it's also in the Aristeem Play catalogue. Owning a game isn't enough on its own — it has to be in our Game Library too. If it's there and you own it, you sign in to your store account and play. If it isn't there, it can't be launched, however you bought it.

Our catalogue covers a wide range of tastes, but some titles aren't available yet, and some can't be added for reasons outside our control. We track new releases and add popular titles when it becomes possible. You can always suggest a game through support.

Do I need my own game store account?

Yes. Whatever game you launch on Aristeem Play, you need your own account on the corresponding store — Steam, Epic Games, Battle.net or another. To play Counter-Strike 2, for example, you sign in with your Steam account.

If you don't have an account yet, creating one takes a few minutes — fill in the store's registration form, confirm your email (and phone, in Battle.net's case), and you're done.

Is there a free trial?

No. Aristeem Play doesn't offer a free trial. You need an active subscription to launch any game, free or paid.

Before subscribing, check your connection with our own speed test rather than a general-purpose one — it measures the route to our servers, which is what determines whether the service will feel good for you.

Can I get a refund?

No. Refunds aren't available for Aristeem Play subscriptions — this is set out in our policies, and it's worth knowing before you subscribe rather than after.

If something went wrong with the payment itself — the charge went through but your subscription didn't activate, or you were billed more than once — that's a different situation. Contact support and have your payment receipts ready.

Note for support: Aristeem Work has a 30-minute refund window on the first session after purchase. That rule belongs to Work and does not apply to Aristeem Play.

What do I need to play, and can I play on my phone?

You need a recent Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera), a graphics card with hardware H.264 decoding, a stable connection, and a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad. There's nothing to install.

Supported devices: PC, laptop, or a tablet with a keyboard and mouse. Mobile phones are not supported — use a computer or laptop instead.

If your graphics card doesn't support hardware decoding, the browser falls back to software decoding. Streaming still works, but your CPU takes the load and image quality drops noticeably.

Do I really need a good internet connection?

Yes — it's the main requirement of any cloud gaming service, and it matters more here than for video streaming. When you watch a video, connection problems are easy to miss, because you aren't interacting with the picture. In cloud gaming, a slow or unstable connection produces input lag you feel immediately.

Before you play: use Ethernet, or a 5 GHz Wi-Fi router. We can't guarantee proper operation over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, mobile internet (3G/4G/LTE) or DSL. Close other applications and browser tabs, make sure nothing else on your connection is downloading, and check that a firewall, proxy or VPN isn't in the way. Set your bitrate roughly 30% below your measured connection speed.

Being honest about it: cloud gaming isn't ideal for high-level competitive play, where outcomes are decided in fractions of a second.

Why is lag worse in online multiplayer than in single-player?

Because there's an extra step in the loop. In an offline game, your input travels to our servers and the video comes back. In an online game the round trip also passes through the game's own servers, which makes it longer.

This is normal for all cloud gaming, not something specific to Aristeem Play. If the picture breaks up or blurs rather than feeling delayed, that's a bandwidth problem instead — lower the stream quality and it will stabilise.

How do I connect a gamepad

Connect your gamepad to the device you start the session from, ideally before the session begins. Once the session starts, press a few buttons so the system detects it — you'll hear a system sound when it's found.

If you connect a gamepad mid-session while a game is already running, we can't guarantee it will work correctly. Some games only recognise a gamepad after a specific button is pressed, so try a few others.

For mouse and keyboard, use USB. Wireless peripherals add input delay and jitter; a wired connection gives noticeably lower response time.
